PUBLIC MORALS [Editorial] It will be recollected that at our last town meeting a resolution was passed on motion of Mr. Isaac Hardy, instructing our selectmen to use their utmost efforts to suppress the unlawful sale of intoxicating liquors and the practice of gambling. We should be recreant to the plainest duty of a public journalist if we should fail to call the attention of our people to the alarming increase of drunkenness and gambling among us |
