General Gideon Foster  January 26, 1838, Danvers, Massachusetts
Early in the year, 317 citizens of Danvers signed a petition generated by Gideon Foster in opposition to the pro-slavery position of the Congress.  They asked Daniel P. King to place the petition before the government, which he did.[1]
